1.The centre has proposed a four slab rate structure for the Goods and service tax, ranging from 0% to 26% at a meeting of the GST council on Tuesday.
2.The structure proposed the GST rate at 0% on a host of goods and services including Food,Health and Education services.
3.It also proposed 26% on Luxury items such as fast moving consumer goods and consumer durables.
4.On consumption of Ultra lixury items such as big cars and tobacco products it proposes imposition of cess over and above 26% GST rate.The GST is proposed to be levied at 6%,12% and 18% on the remaining goods and services.
5.The proposal singles out gold for which it proposes a GST rate of 4%.
